A horrible and devastating accident resulted in the new baby Langur we were rearing having to be put to sleep. Everyone here at the Tree House knows that babies have to be kept away from the older Langurs, especially the males who in the wild will attack and kill any babies from another troop.
This tragic accident occurred when an experienced and long term member of staff was distracted for just a few seconds and the baby raced off to say hello to Pixie not realising the potential danger. Pixie acted as he would in the wild by immediately attacking the poor little creature and inflicted serious injuries which were so bad our vets considered there was no alternative but to immediately put her to sleep.
Everyone at the Tree House has been traumatised by this terrible accident and the member of staff responsible is devastated. This is the first tragic accident in the 8 years we have been taking in babies but one that will live with us forever.
